EXXEL Avionics is a full service avionics shop and is home to a very special team of professionals. The company’s success is rooted in our fondness for aviation, personal satisfaction of accomplishment and dedication to customer service. The teamwork began at Brainard Field back in 1985, and although many changes have since taken place at the airport their vision has endured, culminating into what is now one of the finest avionics shops in the Northeast.

EXXEL Avionics was entirely custom designed and built for versatility and expansion. One of the more impressionable features of EXXEL Avionics is the avionics testing station. Many of the avionics test panels marketed and in use today provide only limited testing. With this challenge before us, we designed the test bench from a technician’s viewpoint. Not only does EXXEL’s test station provide a higher degree of testing for a wide variety of equipment, but also each distinctive panel integrates with other test panels within the station to enable testing between various types of equipment for compatibility problems. Our highly trained technicians are able to quickly diagnose your avionics problems and have you flying again with less downtime!
The variety of aircraft being retrofitted at any given time at EXXEL is proof that the team attracts a special type of clientele. Obviously every aircraft retrofit is unique with particular attention directed to aesthetic detail during all phases of each project and In-flight safety considerations are always paramount throughout the retrofit process. Every aircraft we retrofit is genuinely custom with many prominently featured in various aviation publications, some have even won awards!

EXXEL Avionics has also earned a pioneering reputation for often times being the “first” in the industry to install new products. For example, in August of 2000, the company won Honeywell recognition for their installation of the then all new KFC225 digital Autopilot/Flight Control system in a factory new Malibu Mirage. Shortly before that we received BF Goodrich Avionics recognition for being the first shop to install the Skywatch Traffic Alert system into a factory new Cessna 182S Skylane. The ultimate reward was having our retrofit of a Garmin GNS430 system displayed on the cover of Flying Magazine; the worlds most widely read aviation magazine. Most recently we completed the first aftermaket installation of Garmin’s new GTS820 traffic system into a Beechcraft Baron.

Today’s avionics equipment are more complex with far more system interface capability than general aviation has ever previously experienced. This new generation of avionics equipment provides increased situational awareness, convenience, and safety. During each installation the safety of you and your passengers is our #1 priority! Upon your arrival following a completed installation we will take the time to review all of your paperwork (Logbooks, Weight & Balance, Flight Manual Supplements, etc.) with you. We also describe all the manufacturer’s warranties for your new equipment, which we will submit for you. We will discuss equipment operation, related installation details and answer any questions you may have. After you are seated in your aircraft you will notice the obvious quality in the panel layout and details. However, it is only after you have left our facility and flown for awhile that you will start to appreciate the consistently reliable performance of your new avionics, and then realize the true quality of our work.
